Parent fined Dh100,000 for slapping principal

The Fujairah Federal Court issued a verdict ordering the parent of student to pay Dh100,000 to the principal of a school for slapping the man.

The court ordered the money paid as compensation for psychological, physical and moral damages after the parent slapped the principal inside the school where his son studies.

Meanwhile, the court also obliged the parent to pay court expenses and the attorney's fees for the principal.

The Department of Misdemeanors, Criminal Court of Fujairah, had originally sentenced the parent to three months imprisonment and fined him Dh20,000, but the father didn’t  accept the verdict and appealed before the Court of Appeal, which reduced the fine to Dh3,000.

The school and principal – names of both which were withheld – moved the case to the federal court, which then issued the final ruling.
