Crates worth of oranges roll down a hill, even as feathered dusters take a swipe in the name of dancing.

If this imagery seems familiar to you, then you definitely were a child of the ’80s, growing up on a steady diet of Bollywood kitsch that was epitomised in the 1984 classic, ‘Himmatwala’.

Nostalgia will now be relived as the film’s reboot looks set to hit UAE screens March 28, even as its lead stars slap on the sideburns and puff up their flowing locks to go retro for local fans.

Indeed, Ajay Devgn and Bollywood debutante Tamannah Bhatia, are set to shake a hip and possibly croon ‘Taki Taki’ when they jet into the emirate on March 24, along with ‘Himmatwala’ director Sajid Khan.

Speaking to Emirates 24|7, organiser Syed Shuja from Dream Advertising and Ministry of Events, said: “The three celebrities will meet the fans at the Arabian Centre on Sunday at 6.30pm.

“An evening event is also on the cards, but details will only be given later.”

When quizzed about the buzz surrounding the upcoming event, Shuja added: “Ajay Devgn has crossed over into the 100-crore club (1 billion) with his last few films, while Tamannah Bhatia is a huge name in the South Indian film industry already.

“Both the stars have their respective fan base here.

“Meanwhile, Sajid Khan has an impressive track record as a filmmaker with ‘Housefull’ and its sequel turning into huge grossers.”

‘Himmatwala’, which is jointly produced by UTV Motion Pictures and Vashu Bhagnani, is the official remake of the 1983 blockbuster of the same name, which starred Jeetendra and Sridevi.

However, Khan prefers to call this film a “rewrite”, as he was recently quoted as saying in the media.

The original film chronicles the story of an estranged son, who grows up to fight the evil village head whose nefarious actions saw his father abandon his family years ago in shame.

According to reports, Devgn has spoken in five different languages in his upcoming film and even taken on a tiger.

Jeetendra himself, along with Akshay Kumar will be seen in special appearances in this film, according to reports.
