New technology being used to nab Dubai traffic violators

Dubai motorists need to be more vigilant about traffic rules as Dubai Police is planning to adopt latest technology to nab violators, according to a top police official.

Cameras will in installed in specific spots, said Major-General Matar Al Muzainah, Deputy Commander-General, Dubai Police.

Police plan to instal cameras even on light posts, reported Al Bayan.

The move will capture offenders who double park or even park in the second row in parking lots.

The latest technology will reduce the need for policemen to be physically present at locations to register violations.

Similarly, the Dubai Traffic Department is studying measures to issue traffic fines electronically.

My car was banged up when I visited on my last vacation because the parking spots in the malls are very tight. To prevent this I double park.

Good move. I expect authorities to consider similar installation of cameras at the crossings and especially at Y intersection where most of the motorists join the lane at the last minute over the zebra crossing creating bottleneck situations and frustrations to all the motorists who are already in the lane waiting patiently.

Dubai Police please put a patrol car every 2km along Emirates Road. Everyone will be surprised to see the discipline and how nicely people drive then.
