Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers finding that Anfield is not the automatic draw it once was for players.

Fulham's may have priced Clint Dempsey out of a Liverpool deal with their £10 million valuation, which means Rodgers, and not for the first time in this transfer window, has had to go to Plan B, or is it C?.

The only part of Rodgers’ plan that does not seem to change is: Andy Carroll must go.

Still, for now, as the Dempsey back-up it is the flying winger of Bologna – Gaston Ramirez.

“Gaston is ready to leave Italy - so much so I am in England for talks with a Premier League club,” his agent Pablo Betancourt is quoted as telling Mercato.

Meanwhile Carroll looks more and more likely to end up where it all began for him – at Newcastle.

West Ham are still in the mix but Rodgers has indicated that he could be surplus to requirements.
