An Indian porter at Dubai International Airport was accused of stealing currencies and several other items from passengers’ luggage while loading and unloading bags. BBV, 30, a porter at Trans Guard, a company assigned by Dubai Airports, was arrested while leaving Terminal 3 after finishing his work on April 22, testified Musad Ajmad Saleh, policeman, before the prosecution. “I suspected the porter as he looked worried and that there was something huge in his pocket. Asking him to show what is in his pocket, I found different currencies including that of China, Romania and euros,” said Saleh. When the policeman asked him about the source of the currency, the porter first told him that he found it on the conveyor belt, but later claimed finding them in a newspaper near the belt. Police also seized three watches, two mobiles sets, three mobile phone chips, six memory chips 2, and game wires, three pens, a mobile cover and a head phone set from the accommodation of the accused. BBV confessed before the prosecution that he took an envelope which contained the currency notes at the waiting area, the final point for inspecting passenger’s luggage. He also admitted that he took the two watches and two pens from passengers’ bags. The court adjourned the case until August 31 for verdict.
