Toyota recalls 1,395 Avalon vehicles in UAE

Al Futtaim Motors in UAE will begin customer service campaign on 1,395 Avalon vehicles produced between August 2011 and June 2013 for an airbag fault.

Jon Williams, Managing Director of Al-Futtaim Motors said the move follows communication from Toyota Motor Corporation to fix the faulty air bags.

“Toyota Motor Corporation has informed us that if the condenser drain hose becomes clogged, condensed water can accumulate at the bottom of the air conditioning condenser housing,” he said.

“Due to the location of the housing seam, which is directly above the airbag control module, the accumulated water could leak through the seam onto the module. In some instances, if the circuit board inside the module becomes wet, it could result in illumination of the airbag warning light.

“In some instances, the air bag(s) could become disabled or could inadvertently deploy. In rare cases, other components may also be affected.”
Al Futtaim Motors is working closely with Toyota Motor Corporation to finalize the details and timing of the campaign.
