Getting pest control done at home in Dubai? Here's what residents should know
Dubai Municipality says approved residential treatments are safe, localised and do not affect neighbouring apartments

Dubai: Planning to get pest control done in your apartment? Dubai Municipality has reassured residents that approved residential pest control treatments are designed to be safe for homes and do not spread beyond the treated area.
In a statement to Emirates 24|7, the municipality said all pest control operations carried out by its specialised teams or approved and qualified pest control companies follow the highest international standards and quality controls to safeguard public health.
Treatments stay within the home
According to the municipality, pest control services inside apartments use advanced formulations specifically designed for residential environments.
"These products are eco-friendly, approved for residential use and strictly comply with standard specifications. The application and impact of these materials is strictly localised and confined to the targeted area without spreading to or affecting adjacent or neighbouring units," the municipality said.
Because of this, residents generally do not need to notify neighbours before arranging pest control treatment in their own apartments.
However, the municipality advised residents to follow any instructions provided by the pest control technician, including recommendations on ventilation or precautionary waiting periods before re-entering treated areas, where applicable.
Building-wide pest control follows a different process
In case you have routine pest control being carried out in your building, the municipality noted that as per the applicable guidelines residents have to be informed in advance.
Property management is expected to follow these rules in case there is a building-wide pest control treatment being done:
- Notify residents 24 to 48 hours before the treatment, including the date and time.
- Display clear signs in corridors and common areas during the operation.
- Provide Dubai Municipality's 24-hour customer service number (800900) for any enquiries.
