Bizarre: Man calls 911 over wrong sandwich

Published

A man angry that a deli had fouled up his sandwich order decided to take his beef to police.

The man, identified by police as Rother McLennon of East Hartford, called 911 on Wednesday and complained that he "specifically asked for little turkey and little ham, a lot of cheese and a lot of mayonnaise," and the Grateful Deli in East Hartford got it wrong.

"You're calling 911 because you don't like way that they're making your sandwich?" the dispatcher asked.

"Exactly," McLennon replied.

McLennon explained that that the person he was talking to at the deli was not the person who made the sandwich and was refusing to fix the problem.

"I mean, I just want to solve this the right way," he said. "Her sister made it, but she left. They are playing games with me, so I was just wondering if you could come by. I just want it resolved and I want to be able to come back here and get the regular sandwich that I ask for."

Before ending the call, the dispatcher advised him not to buy the sandwich.

Deli owner Tila Azinheira tells WVIT-TV that McLennon had placed an order for 14 sandwiches and the deli made them to his specifications. She said he was told that because the sandwiches were special orders, the deli couldn't take them back.

She said he used her phone to call police.

McLennon called the deli back on Thursday to apologize, she said.

"I think the customer realized how wrong he was," she said.

No charges have been filed.

Pothole leads to baby's birth on the spot

MUMBAI: A hugely pregnant Mumbai resident was forced to give birth to her baby in an autorickshaw after the vehicle got stuck in a pothole created after heavy rains lashed the city.

The 24-year-old woman was in labour and had hired the autorickshaw to go to a hospital along with her sister-in-law. The vehicle jerked with so much force that the woman was hurled forward and the resulting movement led to her delivering her child in the vehicle, reports Mid-Day.

The woman and her newborn were rushed to the hospital where both were admitted and pronounced healthy and stable.

This is not an isolated incident. Such incidents are common in a city which is filled with potholes once the monsoon season sets in. Last year, another preggie woman had reportedly given birth after crossing a bumpy pothole.

Sleeping beauty wakes up after 2 months

A British teenager who went to sleep in April, woke up in June.

The 15-year-old missed her birthday as well as nine exams for her GCSEs. She suffers from a rare neurological disorder which means she enters a sleeping state for months at a time, 'The Sun' reported.

Only about 1,000 people all over the world suffer from this from Kleine Levin Syndrome also known as Sleeping Beauty Syndrome.

The girl was diagnosed only in March, even though she started getting the symptoms about a year ago.

While she is in sleep mode, she only wakes up to go to the washroom or sip some water. The mother slips in some food in between to keep her going.

The mother compared her daughter ti Jekyll and Hyde. She claims that her daughter gets moody in sleep mode and even stamps her feet if she can't get get her own way.

However, she is thankful that her daughter has been diagnosed since people never used to believe her daughter earlier when she would need to leave school early as she would be tired.

The mother says that her daughter's sleep mode arrives without any warning. She has even found her sleeping on the kitchen floor. A typical sleep mode lasts for 20 hours at least. However, the last episode lasted for two months.

The girl has no memory and when she wakes up, she thinks it's the next day.
