Friend in for dinner steals intimate pictures for blackmail

KK, 38, an Indian, allegedly blackmailed RF, a South African, as regards publishing intimate pictures of him and his wife for a ransom of Dh200,000, the Dubai Criminal Court heard.

The accused is also accused of stealing the images from the computer of the victim.

BBK, 29, another Indian is accused of criminal complicity in the case.

The victim RF, 32, service coordinator testified that on July 14, at around 9am, KK came to his house and had dinner with him and then asked if he could use his computer.

“While using my computer he saw a folder with intimate pictures of me and my wife. Two years later I received an email from a person who I did not know with attachments of some of these pictures asking me to pay Dh180,000 or that he would post them on the internet.

“I notified the police who asked me to arrange to meet him. The first attempt to meet him failed.

“The second time he asked me to pay Dh200,000 for the pictures. He asked me to put the amount in two envelops and to put them in a sack and leave it in a sewer hole in Jebel Ali. On August 8, I got a call from the police notifying me of the arrest of the two accused,” the victim testified.
