A Spanish tourist was arrested after police found cocaine residue on his moustache, Dubai Criminal Court heard.

The chain of arrests started with an undercover operation after police received a tip-off about TK, 33, Syrian. He led cops to the tourist.

A plainclothes policeman first struck a deal with TK to buy cocaine from him for Dh50,000. He was arrested red-handed.

During interrogation, TK confessed that he received the drugs from a supplier, JJ, 33, Spanish.

"We asked TK to call JJ and inform him that he would be going to his place to hand over the money from the sale. Meanwhile, we obtained permission to arrest JJ,” testified Lieutenant Jasem Ihab.

"JJ opened the door. When we asked him about the drugs, he denied any knowledge about it. However, we noticed powder residues on JJ's mustache. We also saw cocaine prepared for consumption on a Tablet and traces of drugs on a banknote that was used for consumption process," Ihab added.

“Searching his pockets and his room we confiscated some drugs. He then guided police to a storeroom where he had hid cocaine. JJ claimed that he got the drugs from IJ,” testified the officer.

Once again, in an undercover operation, a cop contacted IJ, 45, Australian. But he, in turn, called the Syrian and handed over the drugs to him. He was thus arrested.

The three men were charged with possessing and using cocaine.

The Spanish confessed to possessing drugs while the other two have denied the charges.

The court will reconvene on August 17.
