Child rapist claims 'medical condition' in Abu Dhabi court

An Omani accused of raping five boys in Abu Dhabi told the court he is not responsible for his actions due to a certain medical condition.

The 39-year-old man presented a medical report issued by a hospital in Oman showing that he had psychological treatment for such a case.

The man presented the report to court after a medical panel told the judge the man is normal and he was totally responsible for his acts.

Newspapers said the judge decided to adjourn hearings to May 12 to allow the defence to study the report presented by the defendant.

Police had arrested the unnamed defendant following reports by some men that he raped their sons after luring them to the top of buildings where they live.

Police said the man raped five children aged below 10 years after seducing them with sweets and money, and telling them he wanted to show them his birds.
