Mohammed attends Newmarket event

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai attended the Shadwell Day at Newmarket’s prestigious Cambridgeshire Festival, yesterday.

The race, sponsored by Shadwell Stud, the thoroughbred horse racing operations of Dubai Deputy Ruler and Finance Minister Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, saw the attendance of a number of sheikhs and a host of horse racing enthusiasts.

Horses owned by Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum demonstrated outstanding performance.

Winner of Godolphin Mile at the Dubai World Cup 2013, the mount of Paul Hanagan Soft Falling Rain, for training Mike de Kock, was so impressive winning the Nayef Joel Stakes by recording 1.37.20 minutes; whereas the mount of Richard Hughes, Montiridge, was three lengths back to come in second place.

Mitraad, for Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid won the 1400m-Sakhee EBF Maiden Stakes, under Dane O’Neill, recording 1.26.65 minutes, taking Baarez owned by Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid and ridden by Paul Hanagan, at one quarters of length.

Ridden by Ryan Moore, the Richard Hannon-trained daughter of Cape Cross, Zurigha, for Chairman and CEO of Meydan Saeed Al Tayer, won the Shadwell International Stallions Rosemary Stakes recoding 1.36.94, advancing De Kock’s Igugu, owned by Sheikh Mohammed bin Khalifa Al Maktoum, who was three-quarter-length back; whereas Lanansaak for Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid AL Maktoum came third under Dane O'Neill.
