Saudi Arabia’s Mufti (religious chief) has advised Muslims not to kiss their parents’ feet, saying this is not a favourable habit in Islam.

Sheikh Abdul Aziz bin Abdullah Al Shaikh, who also heads the 7-man Supreme Scholars Committee in the Gulf Kingdom, was responding to a question on radio by a Saudi whether kissing the parents’ feet is permissible in Islam.

“The Mufti stressed that Muslims must stop kissing their parents’ feet and only kiss their head or hands.

“He said that this habit is not favorable and that it must be abandoned,” Sabq newspaper said.
