The motorcycle number plate 88888 has been sold for Dh102,000 at the first auction organised by Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority. The motorbike number 20000 fetched Dh60,000 while the car plate G 99999 fetched Dh700,000, making it the day's highest priced lot. The car number G 909 was sold for Dh300,000. The 16 motorbike plates and 90 car plates on offer raised Dh7,311,000, said Ahmed Hashem Bahrozyan, CEO of the authority's Licensing Agency. "The addition of motorbike plates is a testament to the success of the distinguished number plates auctions held by Dubai," said Bahrozyan. "The event was the first of its kind. The auction witnessed heated competition, particularly for the bike plates." RTA plans to offer more such plates for motorcycles.
