More countries come out in support of UAE's World Expo 2020 bid

Sheikha Lubna bint Khalid Al Qasimi, Minister of Development and International Co-operation has discussed ways of cooperation with a number of international ministers and officials.

The discussions were held during the UAE delegation's participation in the 68th United Nations General Assembly in New York.

Sheikha Lubna met with St Lucia's Foreign Affairs Minister, Alpha Baptiste and discussed ways to enhance cooperation and partnership in various fields between the two countries.

During the meeting, Sheikha Lubna expressed her thanks and appreciation to the Government of St Lucia for its support by nominating the UAE in its bid to host World Expo 2020 in Dubai, stressing the full trust, gained by the UAE in the international level.

This success is connected by its openness policies and the pivotal stature, it enjoys, in the regional and global levels, which contributed to gaining the international support for hosting that global event. 

Minister of Development and International Co-operation also met with Gudrun Kopp, Germany's Parliamentary State Secretary to the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development.

The meeting discussed ways of joint cooperation between the UAE and Germany and the two countries' contributions in the developmental and humanitarian work in various fields such as: water management and ensuring education in developing countries.

Sheikha Lubna also held joint discussion sessions with Ertharin Cousin, Executive Director of the World Food Programme (WFP).

They discussed the existing and future challenges in terms of ensuring global food supply in a number of countries which suffer from lack of food provision as result of political crises, as in Syria, in addition to the UAE's humanitarian efforts to secure water for the affectees in Yemen and other countries.  

The two sides agreed on the need to continue cooperation and partnership between the UAE and (WFP) in several aspects such as: exchanging of human resources, capacity building, coordination and development of operational processes.
