Dubai: Need to show proof of a recent vaccination? You can easily do so with DubaiNow’s vaccination e-certificate service.
Here’s why you might need a certificate, and how to download with the tap of a few buttons.
Why do I need a vaccination certificate?
A vaccination certificate may be required for specific situations:
- School admission: Registering children in school usually requires submitting a verified immunisation record that adheres to the emirate’s health guidelines.
- Outbound international travel: If you are travelling from Dubai to another country, your destination may require proof of specific vaccinations. For instance, if you are travelling for Hajj or Umrah to Saudi Arabia, you will need to prove you have acquired the meningococcal vaccine, according to the Dubai Health Authority (DHA). For travel to certain countries in Africa and South America, a vaccine against yellow fever is required.
- Specific medical or employment requirements: Certain specialised healthcare jobs or volunteering roles may ask for updated immunisation history.
What does the vaccination e-certificate service provide?
The DubaiNow app’s vaccination e-certificate service allows you to view, save and download a digital certificate that displays your latest inoculations, received in the last six months.
The e-certificate mentions your personal identification details, such as your full name and Emirates ID number. Through its integration with the DHA, the e-certificate also specifies the type of vaccine, the date of inoculation, as well as the dosage details.
However, if more than six months have passed since you took the vaccination, the e-certificate will appear blank, according to Digital Dubai’s website.
For vaccination certificates that hold historical information – such as your child’s vaccination record – you can access this information via a different location in DubaiNow app: Navigate to the ‘Child Vaccination Plan’ service instead.
How do I apply for a vaccination e-certificate?
If you are a Dubai resident, chances are you already have the DubaiNow app – the government’s official services portal – on your smartphone. Follow these steps to apply for a vaccination e-certificate through the app:
- Download the DubaiNow app from the Google Play Store or Apple App Store. Log in with your UAE PASS.
- Tap on ‘Services’, then navigate to the ‘Health & Medicine’ section. Select ‘Vaccination E-Certificate’.
- You will now be able to view the e-certificate that displays your latest vaccination information. Select it and tap ‘View’ to review the details. If your vaccination was acquired more than six months ago, the e-certificate will appear blank.
- Once you have reviewed the certificate, tap ‘Download’. It will instantly save on your smartphone, as a PDF document.
