Municipal inspectors and police raided the factory and arrested 12 Asian illegal entrants while a large quantity of dates filled in bags and ready to be supplied to shops were confiscated, Emirate Alyoum Arabic language daily said. The factory had imported the bad dates from the southern Iraqi city of Basra and wrapped them in bags carrying dates showing they have not expired. “Nearly 1,650 bags filled with around 50 tonnes of bad dates were seized during the raid...about 600 boxes with nearly 89 tonnes of dates were also found ready to be supplied to sweet shops,” the paper said, quoting Dhaid Municipality director Ali Musabbah al Tinaiji.
