Two Chinese who met on the internet and decided to target villas in the UAE, robbed three villas in Abu Dhabi and Dubai before being caught, the Dubai Criminal Court heard.

MW, 25 and BT, 27, are being prosecuted for stealing Dh30,000 worth watches from a villa in Jumeirah.

On May 29, last year, TT,43, Turkish, general manager, left his house at around 4.30pm and returned at around 11pm to find his home burgled.

“When I returned home with my family, I noticed that the balcony door was open. I dismissed it, because I thought maybe we had forgotten to lock it. The next morning, I noticed one of my watches was missing. Going into the kitchen, I found that the glass was broken,” testified the manager.

Police who arrested MW following examination of blood sample collected from the broken glass.

MW admitted to committing this theft. He also confessed to two other thefts, one in Dubai and another in Abu Dhabi.

He admitted that he met his accomplice via the net and decided to come to the UAE to steal.

His accomplice told the police that his role was only to transport MW to the crime sites.

“We used to roam around and chose vacant villas. I used to climb the wall, break into villas and take valuables, while my accomplice waited outside,” admitted MW.

The court will reconvene on August 1.
