Dubai Investments will pay an additional 10 per cent cash dividend apart from 10 per cent bonus shares for 2008. Shareholders of the company insisted on announcing cash dividend at the annual general meeting held in Dubai yesterday and the management accepted the proposal. The company achieved net profit of Dh 1.58 billion, a five per cent increase compared to profits of 2007. Earlier the Board of Directors suggested to distribute only 10 per cent bonus shares, leading to heated reaction from a majority of investors who said the company has enough cash flow to give out more. The AGM voted for amendments in the proposals to distribute additional 10 per cent cash dividends. Anis Abdullah Al Jallaf, Dubai Investments Chairman, said that the company was taking conservative measures to maintain its liquidity and to benefit from investment opportunities in the markets. He stressed that this conservative strategy would enable the company to overcome hardships in the markets during the coming period.
