What's On Awards marked its 30th anniversary celebration last night with a guest appearance by Grammy Award-nominated musician and former member of The Jackson 5, Jermaine Jackson, at the Dubai Palladium. Jackson performed two of his hit songs, Dynamite and Do what you do, as well as a duet with local singer Sahla at the awards. The occasion was also the Palladium's inaugural event. Earlier, commenting on his appearance at the What's On Awards, Jackson said: "I'm really excited about performing at the What's On Awards as the celebration of the best hospitality and entertainment that the UAE has to offer. Dubai is the perfect setting for the launch of my humanitarian project and I'm very proud to be announcing it at this most prestigious of events." Ian Fairservice, Managing Partner and Group Editor of Motivate Publishing, said: "We're delighted to welcome Jermaine as our very special guest at the What's On Awards in this our 30th anniversary year. His performance at the awards will add extra excitement and glamour to what is already a very special event." Jackson, who converted to Islam in 1989, is also known by his Muslim name, Mohammad Abdul Aziz Shawis.
