General Motors Corporation Chief Executive Fritz Henderson said the United States and global markets are stabilising, which could indicate a turnaround in car sales.

Speaking to reporters during an online chat on the company's GM Blogs website, Henderson said stability is at an "anemic" level but is consistent with assumptions made in the viability plan GM submitted to the American government.

He said sales are improving and have been on an uptick since March.

The GM is currently under bankruptcy protection as it reorganises with $50 billion (Dh183.5bn) in aid from the US Government.
