Abu Dhabi’s Department of Transport has unveiled plans to solve the capital’s parking problems and provide a fairer and more transparent parking system to benefit residents and support local businesses. Under the new plan, motorists will have to pay Dh3 per hour to park on main streets in the city centre and Dh2 in other locations. Parking on public holidays will be free. Residents will be able to purchase annual permits for Dh800 for the first vehicle and Dh1,200 for an additional vehicle. The department also plans to build temporary car parks in the short term and redesign existing car parks in a bid to increasing parking spaces.
