The plot thickens as speculation over a budding romance between Prateik (he's dropped the Babbar name these days) and Miss England finalist Amy Jackson heats up in the final innings of the release of their film, "Ek Deewana Tha", which premieres in Dubai on Wednesday.

Amidst stories circulating of the couple now living together, along with photographic evidence emerging that caught them kissing at a beach party in Goa, Prateik now confirms to Emirates 24/7 that Valentine's Day will be spent with Jackson by his side.

But before you suspect something nefarious, he is quick to explain, saying: "Amy and I will be together today; but instead of romancing, we will be working and marketing "Ek Deewana Tha".

"It has been unintentional that we have each other by our side, but how can I complain when its Amy."

Prateik, added that he does not have a girlfriend as yet, despite the Jackson link-up.

"But my ideal Valentine Day would be spent at home, with candles and romance. These days I try to flirt, so hopefully one day, I will strike lucky," he laughed.

As the romantic drama about first love readies for release on Friday globally, Prateik admitted that there was a bit of nervous energy engulfing him.

He said: "I am nervous, but it is natural that it will happen. But I am also very confident about the film, which is a remake of a Tamil and Telegu hit."

With a musical score by the Oscar winning AR Rahman, the film has already been embroiled in controversy with the song "Hosanna", which is a Biblical term that has angered several religious groups for its usage.

Quiz Prateik and he said the controversy is silly to begin with, saying: "The same song was there in the Tamil and Telegu versions and no one had a problem.

"And frankly, why should they when Hosanna actually means praise the lord; its a celebration and that is exactly what the song depicts.

"This controversy is just a ploy by attention seekers to create some drama."

"Ek Deewana Tha" releases on Thursday across UAE cinemas.
