Suri Cruise: 4-year-old who makes her own clothes

She may be the most stylish child in Hollywood, but did we really need to know that Suri Cruise’s look is all her own? Her mother certainly seems to think it’s important to tell the world that Suri Cruise designs and makes her own clothes. The four-year-old, who has a rumoured Dh12-million wardrobe, alters and puts her own outfits together, actress Katie Holmes told New York magazine. “I grew up the youngest of five, so there were a lot of hand-me-downs that I would sort of change up,” Katie said. “And Suri and I do that now with her clothes. Or rather, she does it. She says, ‘I want this sleeve cut,’ and it's like, ‘Okay, we'll cut it.’” Other mums might well feel Suri is a spoiled little princess, but her parents insist it’s a sign of her keenness on all things fashion-forward. “She picks out all of her own clothes and has since she was one-and-a-half,” Holmes said, revealing that she designed many of her daughter’s clothes and had them run up by seamstresses. Not only does the actress let her daughter pick and choose what she wants, but she even lets young Suri pick her own red-carpet outfits. “Tom and I went to the Met ball a couple of years ago, and I had this beautiful red gown and these royal-blue shoes that I wasn't planning on wearing, but Suri made me put them on and so I was like, ‘Okay, I trust you.’” Daddy Tom admitted to seeking fashion advice from Suri earlier this month, too: "Suri will think about it and she’ll lay out clothes and be very creative and knows what looks good,” he told Bang Showbiz. “She even picks out clothes for me to wear. She’s very generous like that!” From there, it’s one step to launching a fashion line, “designed” by Suri Cruise. Watch this space for details.
