Cop accused of stealing phone from accused

A policeman allegedly stole a mobile phone of a suspect under investigation in a drug case, the Dubai Criminal Court heard.

AAA, 26, Emirati policeman at Anti-Narcotics Department at Dubai Police, is accused of stealing a mobile phone, which belongs to MN, a suspect in a drug case.

Major MH, testified that on February 14, the accused stole the mobile, which was in custody of the department’s reception.

“Investigating the incident, we found out that the phone has been sold to a mobile phone shop in Abu Dhabi for Dh650 and that that accused has signed on and submitted to the shop a photocopy of his police ID. Confronting the accused with the incident he confessed to it,” testified the officer.

The 42-year-old Indian salesman of the shop testified that on February 15, the accused came to his shop and offered the Nokia C7 for sale, “I have bought it from him for Dh650 after he signed on a photocopy of his police ID,” Ibrahim testified.
