Sheikh Hazza bin Zayed Al Nahyan, National Security Advisor, Board Chairman of Emirates Identity Authority (Emirates ID), has said the identity project represents a focal strategic point to the development in the UAE, as it contributes effectively to ensuring the security and providing the best services to Emiratis and expatriates alike.

He was addressing the Emirates ID Board meeting in the presence of Lt. General Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior and Deputy Board Chairman of Emirates ID.

Emirates ID Board also endorsed the issuance of Emirates IDs to Emiratis, with duration of 10 years, with effect from December 2013, in the first stage of the scheme targeting UAE nationals only.

After the briefing on the electronic link project, Sheikh Hazza said the project is pivotal for supporting the strategic planning process through provision of the accurate demographic data that help the decision makers in the country.
