A ram nicknamed ‘Thunderbolt’ was sold for SR37,000 (Dh36,500) at a hectic auction in Saudi Arabia this week.

The auction was held at a major livestock show north of the western town of Taif and organisers said scores of men had bidden for the ram.

“It was a hectic auction for the thunderbolt, a rare male sheep breed,” the Arabic language daily Sabq said.

Monkey lives at Saudi hospital

A monkey appeared to have taken a hospital in Saudi Arabia its new shelter, picking food from the waste bin on the ground before escaping to the top of the building.

A newspaper in the Gulf Kingdom said its photographer was visiting an ill relative at the hospital in the southern town of Khamis Mushait when he spotted the monkey on the roof of the hospital.

“The monkey moves around freely. It picks food from the bin before hurrying back to the roof. Patients said they have seen it there for several days,” said the photographer of Sabq newspaper.
