Rush-hour crash jams access to Mohammed bin Zayed Road

Published

A combination of sudden fog and an accident has led to heavy traffic build-up early on Tuesday morning.

Dubai Police tweeted at 6.21am: “Serious crash on Al Baghdad Street leading to Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road. It is very crowded, please use alternative roads.

Commuters are advised to avoid using Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road from Al Baghdad Street, as a crash has caused long tailbacks on Tuesday morning.

Al Ain alert

The Al Ain Traffic and Patrols Section at the Abu Dhabi Police Traffic and Patrols Directorate urged both citizens and residents to drive their vehicles cautiously during bad weather in the city to avoid accidents.

Major Salah Abdullah Al Hemairi, Acting Head of Al Ain Traffic Section, urged drivers to observe traffic rules, drive prudently during rainy weather, leave a safety distance between vehicles, and to stop their cars on the side of the road during high winds, torrential rain, hailstorm and dust-storms in order to avoid traffic accidents.

He encouraged motorists to check the weather forecast before travelling or commuting from one city to another to avoid driving during inclement weather.

He called upon motorists to reduce their speed, adhere to speed limits on internal and external roads, and to drive slowly on turns and in tunnels due to the possibility of large pools of collected water.

He also advised motorists to drive carefully during rainy weather because the friction between the road surface and tires is greatly decreased when the roads are wet. Damp roads mean that cars require longer distances in order to come to a complete stop without skidding.
