How Man Utd can win the title, by Paul Scholes

There are a few T-shirts and bumper stickers that bear Manchester United’s return-from-retirement legend, Paul Scholes’ name.

One reads: When in doubt, give it to Scholes.

Another one: Get up, go to work, score, win the game, go home, go to bed – Paul Scholes.

It is that lack of drama but clear and concise focus on achieving nothing but the top prize that has made Paul Scholes one of the best footballers of his generation, one of the best passers in the game ever and a United legend.

With a nail-biting and nervy run-in against an ever-ascending Manchester City for the Premier League title this year, Scholes spelt it out for United, in typical Scholes fashion.

"There is no doubt we had to win and we realise we may have to win every game to win the league."

That, like a Scholes tackle may be hard for some to take, but like his pinpoint diagonal cross-field ball, hits the nail on the head.

United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has already said Ryan Giggs and Paul Scholes are Man Utd’s best ever players

Ryan Giggs hit a dramatic last-minute clincher at Norwich on Sunday.

United are two points behind Manchester City, who they meet three games before the end of the season.

So winning them all will do the title trick.
