India recall Yuvraj for ODI series against Australia

India have recalled flamboyant all-rounder Yuvraj Singh for the upcoming home series against Australia, it has been reported in the Indian media.

However, there was no place for discarded seniors Virender Sehwag, Gautam Gambhir, Zaheer Khan and Harbhajan Singh, according to NDTV.com.

The 31 year-old southpaw has come in at the expense of Dinesh Karthik for the seven-match ODI series and one T20 game.

Yuvraj last played an ODI for India on January 27 against England at Dharamsala and was dropped subsequently due to a poor run of form and a lack of fitness.

Since his comeback, a fitter Yuvraj has scored 123, 40 and 61 in three List A matches against the West Indies A followed by a quickfire 52 in the solitary T20 game.

He carried on with his good form in the Challenger Trophy for India Blue where he scored 84 against India Red and a 29 in the final against Delhi.

Even though India won the Champions Trophy in England and a tri-series in West Indies when Yuvraj was away, the middle order was vulnerable.
