UAE Visa overstay fines 2026: How to check and pay
Find out how to check your overstay fines online, where to pay them, and why you must clear them before applying for a new visa or leaving the UAE
Dubai: If your new UAE visa application is getting delayed, you may be facing an overstay fine by the UAE’s immigration department.
When your existing UAE visa gets cancelled, you are provided a grace period within which you should either exit the country or apply for a new residence visa.
In cases when this is delayed, an overstay fine of AED 50 per day is applied, regardless of the type of visa you have – residence, work or visit.
Here is how you can check if an overstay fine has been applied on your file, and how to pay it.
How to check overstay fine in Dubai
- Visit: https://www.gdrfad.gov.ae/en/fines-inquiry-service
- Select the option for entering your passport number.
- Enter your passport number, nationality and date of birth.
- Verify yourself as a user by entering the captcha code.
- Click on submit.
The system will then provide you the exact amount you need to pay.
How to pay
You can pay the fine by :
- Paying online, through the following link: https://icp.gov.ae/en/services-details/?serviceid=68e73faf5ae59b00117389f1
- Visiting an Amer centre in Dubai. Amer centres are registered with the General Directorate of Identity and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA) Dubai to provide visa and immigration services in Dubai.
Whether you are planning to apply for a new UAE visa, or even if you wish to leave the UAE, clearing the fines is essential, according to Muhammad Shiyas, PRO at First Gate Business Services.
“When applying for a new visa, you will need to pay the fines at the stage of ‘change status’, without which you cannot proceed for the medical test and Emirates ID application, which is required for the new visa,” he said.
“If you are leaving the country, you will need to pay the fine at the airport, at the immigration, without which you cannot exit the country,” he added.
