Abu Dhabi court recovers Dh7.8 million for 948 workers in under three months
Three collective labour cases totalling Dh12.3 million in claims were settled through joint efforts between the Abu Dhabi Labour Court and MOHRE, with full or partial payment made to all workers involved
Abu Dhabi: The Abu Dhabi Labour Court was able to collect a total amount of Dh7.8 million for the benefit of 948 workers, after settling three collective cases in record time, with high efficiency and flexibility. The decision ensured the protection of financial entitlements and enhanced job stability for workers, reflecting the strength of the judicial system in the emirate of Abu Dhabi and its ability to deal flexibly with cases related to labour groups, and to apply the highest standards of effective justice.
The joint efforts, coordinated between the Abu Dhabi Labour Court, the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MOHRE) and the implementing parties, resulted in the collection of those amounts and their distribution between judicial deposits and payments under direct amicable settlements, out of a total claim amounting to Dh12.3 million, during a record period not exceeding three months from the date of registration of the complaints.
The measures taken resulted in the full payment of dues to 457 workers, in addition to the partial payment of dues to another 491 workers, with the remaining amounts scheduled according to regular instalment plans to follow up on collection.
The settlement mechanism adopted ensured that workers continued in their jobs with the companies against which the action was taken, which contributed to preserving the stability of the parties in the labour relationship and supporting economic activity and the continuity of production, in parallel with completing follow-up on the payment of the remaining financial settlements.
This measure reflects the Abu Dhabi Labour Court’s continued commitment to expediting dispute resolution and ensuring that rights are granted to their owners in accordance with applicable laws and regulations, while strengthening the partnership with MOHRE to enhance the efficiency of implementation procedures and establish a sustainable and stable work environment.
