An Iranian businessman allegedly attempted to get a credit card from a local bank with a limit of Dh80,000 and a loan of Dh200,000 with the help of forged documents, the Dubai Criminal Court heard. MM, 30, claimed to be an Iraqi with the name of LK and submitted forged documents required by the bank for a credit card and a loan. MM met the bank’s executive sales officer NA, 26, Indian, twice in October 2014, once in a car dealer’s showroom and the next time near the Dnata building. “He presented me the required documents in addition to an Iraqi passport which carried the name of LK. The applicant was accompanied by a man who was translating what he said into broken English,” said the bank’s officer. The bank’s loan section found out that the documents that the applicant presented were forged. Police arrested the so-called LK and found out that he was not an Iraqi but an Iranian identified as MM. The court will reconvene on April 24.
