A cleaner robbed his employer’s wife after managing to enter the house by claiming to be her husband’s friend, the Dubai Criminal Court heard.

On March 19, at around 9am, the 26-year-old victim was alone at home. On hearing the door bell ring, she looked through the magnifier.

“I saw a man standing and asking him about his identity, he claimed that he is my husband’s friend and asked me to open the door. When I opened the door, he got in holding an empty wine bottle. He closed the door and hit my head with the bottle which broke and I sustained a wound in the forehead.

“He asked me to hand him over the gold ornaments I was wearing. I took off the earrings and a necklace worth about Dh17,000. He also asked for cash. I opened the wardrobe and gave him Dh2,000 and then he left  the flat,” the victim told investigators.

Police investigated the theft and reached MH, 23, cleaner in the office of the victim’s husband.

Police confiscated a gold ring and necklace from the accused.

He admitted to the robbery, saying that he thought of robbing  the wife of his employer while the latter was at work.

He admitted to picking up a bottle of wine from the garbage bin in his accommodation and went to his employer’s flat.

“When she opened the door after I claimed to be a friend of her husband, I hit her with the bottle and asked her to give me her gold ornaments and cash, which she did,” the accused told Corporal Ahmad Ali.

The court will give its sentence on May 28.
