Brazilian authorities say one more body has been recovered from the scene of a massive mudslide on a island resort.

That raises to 20 the number of bodies found so far on Ilha Grande, off the coast of Rio de Janeiro state. A separate mudslide in the nearby city of Angra dos Reis killed at least 11 people. Both mudslides happened early on New Year's Day.

The Civil Defence Department in Angra dos Reis said one body was found on Ilha Grande yesterday.

Authorities fear the death toll could possibly double, as many people are still missing. Sunny weather is allowing searchers to continue their work.
