Expert witness testifies against ex-minister

A former minister made Dh56.6 million from illegal share deals that form the basis of the Deyaar 1 graft case, Dubai Criminal Court heard yesterday.

This was revealed by expert witness Mohammed Mustafa Hussein, auditor at Financial Audit Department, Dubai Ruler's Court, who prepared a report on the case. He said total losses incurred by developer Deyaar amounted to Dh170.8m.

The public prosecutor said the accused took part in illegal deals involving shares of Dubai Islamic Bank, mortgage lender Tamweel and Deyaar.

The case is adjourned to April 13.
