The Dubai Police General Headquarters has warned of fake accounts on the internet and social media platforms promoting the sale of new-season Global Village packages at attractive but fraudulent prices. These accounts aim to defraud victims and steal their money and personal data.
The warning comes after Global Village announced the launch of exclusive VIP packages for its 31st season. The packages will be released in phases exclusively through the Coca-Cola Arena website. The pre-purchase phase will run from 21 to 25 September, allowing guests to secure their package for an additional fee. The general sale phase will begin on 26 September.
Dubai Police said this type of fraud is repeated annually when Global Village announces the start of its season. Fraudsters create and clone accounts and webpages that closely resemble official platforms. This misleads the public into believing they are authorised entities. Victims are then lured into making fake purchases or disclosing personal information.
Dubai Police stressed the importance of purchasing tickets and packages only through official and authorised channels. It also urged the public not to interact with links or accounts from unknown sources to protect their money and personal data and ensure safe transactions.
Dubai Police called on community members to remain vigilant and avoid being tempted by fake offers or unrealistic prices. It urged the public to report any fraudulent attempts, fake accounts or suspicious links through the e-Crime platform or by calling 901, helping to reduce cybercrime and protect the community.
