UAE’s Zakat Fund distributes Dh30.5m in Q1 2013

The Zakat Fun distributed Dh30.5 million during the first quarter of the current year to 2,659 deserving categories.

Abdullah bin Aqeedah Al Muhairy, the Secretary General of Zakat Fund and Head of Distribution Committee, said the zakat money were disbursed to persons with special, low-income people, distressed, students, patients and the new converts to slam.

Al Muhairy added the distribution of the zakat money was approved during 18 meetings the Committee held in October and November 2012.

He said the Fund would continue its pursuit of adding new categories of zakat recipients, and improving projects based on channels of zakat.
