Burglars didn’t spare restaurant’s charity box

Three jobless Pakistanis allegedly broke into a restaurant and stole a charity box and Dh200 in cash, the Dubai Criminal Court heard.

The accused three, identified as AIZ, 24, MWS and MNF, both 21, broke into a restaurant at night in the Abu Hail area on September 17, 2012.

The owner of the restaurant, Altaf Hussain, 55, testified that he informed the police after he got a call from his son early in the morning telling him that the restaurant had been burgled.

Police investigations lead to the three accused. They had been in police custody earlier for other thefts. 

AIZ admitted to breaking into the restaurant and stealing a charity box that was on the cashier’s desk and to Dh200.

Lieutenant Khalid Abdullah testified that the accused three denied breaking into Al Nabe Restaurant in Abu Hail area. “However, they admitted that they had burgled a restaurant whose name they did not know and which was in the Hor Al Anz area. They admitted observing the restaurant while they were in the car of the second accused’s father and deciding to rob it.

“At 1am, the second accused broke into the restaurant using a screw driver. They entered and stole a charity box which contained Dh60.They admitted that they used the money to buy cigarettes and fill the car with petrol,” Lieutenant Khalid Abdullah testified.

The court will announced its verdict on April 25.
