Four teens held for stealing cars in Sharjah
Sharjah Police arrested four teenagers for alleged vehicle thefts and setting one ablaze.
Colonel Harran Mubarak, Acting Director, Central Region, Sharjah Police, said the suspects aged 15 and 16 years were arrested following several complaints from individuals, car showrooms and a government body, in the recent past.
A security team was formed to track the suspects, who have all confessed to the crime, he added.
Col. Mubarak said the suspects stole number plates from cars in industrial areas and replaced them on the cars they stole from showrooms and performed stunts in the desert.
The teens allegedly also burned one of the stolen cars.
Two of the arrested suspects have criminal records against them in earlier thefts.
All four boys have been referred to Public Prosecution.
Col. Mubarak urged parents to monitor activities of their children, especially their friends group.
He also called upon parents to report their children if they cannot be controlled as the police deals with such children in complete confidentiality, thereby helping families find a solution to problem.
