David Beckham has topped Forbes.com's list of the top 20 highest-paid football players.

According to the website, 33-year-old Beckham made an impressive $46m (Dh169m) in the past year, of which a large percentage comes from endorsement contracts. The only athletes to pull in more endorsement income than Becks last year were Tiger Woods and Michael Jordan.

Madge does her bit 

According to celebrity website People.com, Madonna, who is half Italian, has donated $500,000 (Dh1.84m) to the victims of last Monday's earthquake in central Italy, which killed more than 270 people.

Whitney Houston is suing her stepmother for $1.6m (Dh5.9m). The Grammy-winning singer claims Barbara Houston owes her the money for failing to make payments on the New Jersey house she has lived in since 1987.

Queen Latifah reportedly owes $1m (Dh3.67m) to her make-up artist and stylist. Both filed lawsuits this week. However, according to Latifah's spokeswoman, the lawsuits apparently have no merit.

Fined for Cruel joke 

The UK media watchdog has fined the BBC £150,000 (Dh809,640) over the "grossly offensive" prank phone calls made to Fawlty Towers actor Andrew Sachs by radio hosts Russell Brand, pictured, and Jonathan Ross.
