Mohammed calls to utilise solar power
His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, yesterday received presidents Karolos Papoulias of Greece and Olafur Ragnar Grimsson of Iceland at Al Mushrif Palace.
Sheikh Mohammed also received Prime Minister of Malaysia, Mohammed Najib bin Tun Abdul Razak and Dr Sheikh Mohammed Sabah Al Salem Al Sabah, Deputy Prime Minister of Kuwait and Minister of Foreign Affairs.
The leaders are here to attend the World Future Energy Summit.
Sheikh Mohammed spoke of his hope that decision makers from participating countries would come up with resolutions and recommendations that reflect the great international interest in energy. Renewable energy has many applications, especially in the UAE and the region, he said, stressing sunny weather can be exploited to generate solar power and reduce the consumption of petroleum products.
