Bollywood’s Priyanka and Kareena battle it out

If you thought turning real life characters into reel was easy, then think again.

The new breed of actors in Bollywood are willing to go the extra mile to lend credibility to their on-screen personalities.

Whether it’s chiseling out a six-pack, or undergoing intense athletic training, learning a new dialect or cropping their lovely locks, the stars are going to stop at nothing until they give their parts depth and character.

Priyanka Chopra in Mary Kom biopic

After much speculation, Priyanka Chopra was finally chosen to play boxer Mary Kom in Omung Kumar’s biopic.

But, playing a real life sports hero has its challenges, and the ‘Don2’ star is willing to sweat it out to bring Mary Kom to life on the big screen.

We hear, Sameer Johal (who also trained Farhan Akhtar for ‘Bhaag Milkha Bhaag’) has already started training Priyanka.

And, if that isn’t enough, she will also undergo sessions with Rob Miller (Chak De! India's sports action director).

There are even talks about how the movie-makers are trying to rope in professional boxing coaches to train Priyanka.

Kareena Kapoor in her next untitled movie with Emraan Hashmi

While she’s credited to playing a variety of characters, what the Kapoor girl hasn’t done so far is experiment with her luscious hair.

But, that’s about to change.

For her next untitled movie alongside Emraan Hashmi, Kareena has reportedly decided to chop off her hair.

“She will don a short hairstyle, just like Hollywood’s Sharon Stone. Much to everyone’s surprise, when the look was discussed, Kareena was game for it instantly,” reported a source close to the actress in the Indian media.

Earlier, there were talks that she’d snip her hair for Prakash Jha’s ‘Satyagraha’ but the actress had apparently refused to do so. Hopefully, there won’t be a repeat of that this time round.

The movie is a co-production between Ekta Kapoor’s Balaji Motion Pictures and Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions.

Farhan Akthar in Bhaag Milkha Bhaag

Known to be a perfectionist, director-turned-singer-turned-actor Farhan Akhtar has undergone intense training to play athlete Milkha Singh in ‘Bhaag Milkha Bhaag’.

He undertook intense training that’s exclusive to athletes – The Lydiard Hill Training Workout, Altitude Training and cycling.

He even worked on a muscular athletic body.

According to a source, “Farhan has worked really hard to achieve the perfect body for the movie. He has been religiously following a fitness regime that athletes follow for almost two years now. He has been through various training sessions, which only sports people undergo.”

This will be the first time that the actor has worked on his body.

Ranveer Singh in Ram Leela

Just a few movies old, Ranveer Singh is already working relentlessly to show how passionate he is about his profession.

For Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ‘Ram Leela’, the actor underwent intense languages classes to learn Gujarati.

He plays a Gujarati boy in the movie and was keen on nailing the essence of his character.

He even researched about Gujarati culture to give him more insight.

Alia Bhatt in 2 States

One-movie-old Alia Bhatt faces a similar challenge for her next film ‘2 States’ where she plays a Tamil Iyengar girl.

For Mumbai-bred Alia, Tamilian culture is knew and she has reportedly hired a Tamilian teacher to get the character right.

Imran Khan in Matru Ki Bijli Ka Mandola

As part of his training for Vishal Bhardwaj’s ‘Matru Ki Bijli Ka Mandola’, Imran Khan had stayed in Delhi to understand his character Matru better.

“I went off to Delhi for three months and stayed there. Every city and village has a different style and accent and I had to master the one required for this film. This is not like any other film where one reads a script and delivers the lines. I needed the tight accent for it,” the actor had explained during an interview.
