According to Steve Bennett, gem hunter and founder of The Genuine Gemstone Company, The Duchess of Duchess of Cambridge, is very much the English Rose, assuming a more traditional style.

But the traditional Duchess has graced countless magazine covers and anything she wears sells out within days, in a phenomenon dubbed the Kate Effect.

Ever since Kate Middleton stepped out in a red dress, the demand for similar outfits has gone up and online stores have been bombarded with orders.

The Duchess of Cambridge stepped out wearing a shocking salmon pink dress by her new favourite label, Goat, for her recent visit to the Blessed Sacrament School here.

And the belted shift dress sold out across the internet within minutes, reports eonline.com.

Instead of her usual relaxed waves, Kate’s glossy mane was pinned in a half-up, half-down style, back-combed on top, and teased into tight ringlets.

This is not the first time that women are going gaga over Kate's fashion choice.

In April, during the royals' tour of Australia and New Zealand, her Diane von Furstenberg wrap dress was liked by women so much that similar pieces were sold out in just eight minutes.

The Duchess, best known as Kate Middleton, though deemed by some as smug and boring, is always good for making fashion trends.

In her relatively short time in the public spotlight she has influenced what twenty-somethings all over the world wear more than some starlets in their whole life in the limelight.

Whatever she wears, sells out almost on the spot. Case in Point: Her blue Issa engagement dress sold out within hours, and countless blogs are dedicated solely on what Kate is wearing.

Following the release of Michael Middleton’s official royal family photos, the fuchsia-coloured Séraphine Jolene dress worn by the on-trend new mum sold out in hours, proving once again that the Duchess of Cambridge is a marketing professional’s dream.

‘The “Kate Effect” has proved time and time again to be a powerful force in fashion – young women want to emulate her elegant style, and when she chooses pieces from accessible high street brands over expensive designer labels, this desire becomes attainable.

The best-known item in Kate's jewellery collection is her engagement ring, which once belonged to Princess Diana.

The blue sapphire, which sparkles with 14 diamonds, was bought at the former Crown jewellers Garrard of Mayfair for a staggering £28,500.

When it comes to choosing her own accessories, Kate does, however, prefer more simple pieces like her £1,090 Annoushka Pearl Drop earrings and more modest £275 Links Hope earrings.

She's even a fan of cheap but chic jewellery which she snapped up from Made In Chelsea star Amber Atherton's myflashtrash website, which she wore while on her Diamond Jubilee tour of the South Pacific.
