Panic mode: Sanjay Dutt files review petition in Indian court
Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt has finally filed a review petition in the Supreme Court of India.
This move comes a couple of days after he was granted a four-week reprieve by the same court to enable him to complete his film assignments and save the Bollywood producers from incurring huge losses due to his sentencing.
According to a leading daily, the petition has been filed so the court can review its March 21 judgment sentencing him to five years in jail.
Now, whether his petition will be accepted or rejected, depends on the court. But Sanjay has used the option that could possibly let him avoid the jail sentence.
The teary-eyed actor had earlier in a press conference told the media that he would not file a review petition and would accept the court's decision.
Now, whether Dutt serves the sentence or not, or whether his review petition is accepted or rejected, he will eventually walk out a hero.
For the uninitiated, the court found the actor guilty for possession of an automatic rifle in a notified area before Mumbai serial blasts in 1993.
