Bahrain has no plans to join the UAE in suspending BlackBerry services as it does not see any threats from its operations, its regulators said Monday. Ahmed Al Dosari, Director of Communications and Information Technology at the Bahraini Telecommunications Regulatory Authority, said banning Blackberry services would be against the Gulf Kingdom’s freedom of communication. “There is no intention to ban Black|Berry services in Bahrain because there are no fears or security threats from the messenger and e mail services,” he was quoted as saying by the Arabic Language daily Alayyam. “The Kingdom’s constitution guarantees the freedom of e-mail, telephone and telegraphic services…it guarantees the secrecy of such services except in cases stipulated by the law or at court orders.”
