Two bank workers entrusted with feeding cash machines had apparently thought it was their chance to get rich by using a bank error that underestimated the funds given to them by SR1 million ($266,000). So, they simply put the surplus in their pockets.

The unnamed bank in the western Red Sea port of Jeddah had supplied the two with cash for the machines and documents saying they have been given SR8m . When they checked the sum later, they found that it was SR9m.

“They decided to put the excess SRone million in their pocket….when the bank later discovered the error, they denied they have taken any money,” 'Okaz' Arabic language daily said.

“The bank then informed the police, who tracked down the two and found SR990,000 in their possession…they were both arrested.”
