Three medical professionals have been charged with medical negligence that led to the death of an Emirati woman in a botched facelift surgery. A 41-year-old American national plastic surgeon, a 42-year-old Iraqi female general anaesthiologist and a 44-year-old Syrian hospital director face charges filed before the Dubai Misdemeanour Court. The 50-year-old Emirati woman underwent surgery to lift her neck and eyelids. While the first two accused denied charges, the hospital director failed to turn up before the court on Sunday. The woman had slipped into coma for seven months before she died. Preliminary investigations into the case had charged the trio of causing death due to medical negligence. While the doctors were charged with not reading the patient’s vital parameters, the hospital director was accused of not providing enough specialists to handle such cases.
