7-year-old donates to repatriate prisoners

A seven-year-old girl donated money to buy tickets for prisoners so that they could go back to their home countries, Dubai Police said today in a statement on its website.
The prisoners, who had finished their jail terms, could not afford to pay for their way back home, said Lt Col Marwan Julfar, head of the Humanitarian Committee at Dubai Police Correctional and Rehabilitation Department.
“The child’s mother told us that her daughter always loved to donate some of her pocket money to those who are less fortunate. She had collected Dh2,000 and was looking for a good cause to give it to,” said Lt Col Marwan.
When her mother informed her about some of the prisoners’ plight, Amna insisted on personally visiting the prison to give out her donation, he said. As a result of Amna’s generosity, three prisoners were able to travel back to their home countries.
Lt Col Marwan thanked the little girl for her kind gesture and urged others to donate to help prisoners. Members of the public who are interested in helping can contact the committee on the number 04 2138888.
