A Pakistani accused of stealing about Dh700 from a taxi and damaging the vehicle told the court that he is mentally unstable and he cannot remember what he does at times.

NSM admitted to driving a taxi, which was parked unattended with its engine on, and causing damages to it.

He, however, denied stealing Dh700 from the vehicle.

When the judge of the Misdemeanour Court, Ibrahim Khalil Abu Shamma, raised doubts about his mental health because he understood and answered questions in court, he defended himself saying that he suffers from spurts of mental disorder and cannot remember things that he does during those times.

He also said that he is under treatment at Rashid Hospital.

The court adjourned the case until August 31.
